User Tutorial: How to use ANGELA ?

  • . How patient text message appointment reminder works?

Unlike other reminder services that are controlled by your scheduler profile settings, text message reminder service must be explicitly agreed or accepted by your patient or customer who is going to receive the reminder.

When your account’s profile has activated Text Message Reminder service, your patients or customers will see an extra message attached to the emails they received for their regular appointment service (appointment confirmation, etc.). The message advises them that they can signup to receive text message reminder by visiting the provided web page.

On that page, your patient or client can go through a simple two-steps verification test to receive a text message on his/her cell phone. The verification process is designed to prevent wrong number being used for service as well as getting consent from the patient or client to receive the appointment reminder in mobile text message.

Same verification process can also be used by you or your office staff to add service to your patient or client’s profile when they are in your office or talking to you over the phone. Here are the steps for you.

on Patient –> search patient page, enter the patient’s name, click search to find your patient’s record. If his/her text message reminder feature is not active, there will be a link next to text message reminder that you can click to signup your patient to the service. Follow the steps on the page, let your patient provide you with his/her cell and carrier info, as well as the verification code that they received on their cell phone, enter the code and submit it.

Because text message appointment reminder is sent on patient’s preferred time (i.e., they can choose to receive reminder 1 hour before appointment time), it is more timely and reliable compare to other format of reminder. Use it well and it can be a very efficient new tool to cut down patient no-show.
